DWI roadblock charge reduced.

Apr 30, 2008 - by Joseph Welsh

April, 2008.  Attorney Welsh’s client was arrested for DWI at a random sobriety checkpoint.  The police alleged that, before stopping the client, they observed erratic driving.  Police also alleged that the client smelled of alcohol, admitted to drinking beers, and failed two of three field sobriety tests.

Result:  The DWI charge was reduced to a lesser, non-criminal, non-alcohol related charge of reckless driving.

Sobriety checkpoints and police roadblocks are an ever increasing occurence on NH roadways.  Unlike regular traffic stops, the police do not need to base the stop on suspected unlawful activity or a motor vehicle violation.  If, as a result of a sobriety checkpoint or DWI roadblock, you have been charged with DWI, drug possession, or some other criminal or motor vehicle offense, give us a call.  We routinely deal with the state and local police in criminal, DWI, and other motor vehicle matters.
